The influence of lead on learning memory behaviors of growing mice and the contents of in the brain

Abstract

Objective To study the mechanism of lead exposure on the capability of learning memory behavior in growing mice . Method The experimental mice were divided into four groups, which were intoxicated with oral exposure to lead acetate (0.025%,0.05%,0.075% group) and distilled water (control group)for 8 weeks, respectively. The changes of learning and memory were observed in open field ,T water-maze test. The contents of NO,MDA and activity of SOD in mice's brain were investigated by biochemical measurement. Results Compared with control (1) the learning ability decreased in 0.075% group mice ( P 0.01);(2)the content of NO and activity of SOD in mice's brain was lower in 0.075% group ( P 0.01), but MDA was higher( P 0.01 ). Conclusion Low lead exposure could significantly damage the capacity of learning and this damages may be related with the contents of NO, MDA and activity of SOD in mice's brain.
