Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the carotid atherosclerosis and the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)in patients with asymptomatic cerebral infarction. Methods Totally 30 patients with asymptomatic cerebral infarction,30 patients with symptomatic cerebral infarction and 30 normal subjects were enrolled. They were given carotid artery color Doppler examination and the blood hs-CRP test. Results Among the three groups the differences in incidence of carotid artery plaque, intimal rough rate, carotid artery intima-media thickness were statistically significant(P0.05),the difference in stable plaque was significant(P0.05),and the difference in hs-CRP was significant(P0.01).Conclusion The extent of the carotid atherosclerosis, nature of plaque and hs-CRP level are associated with asymptomatic cerebral infarction;the hs-CRP level can accurately reflect the stability of carotid plaque.
