Analysis of the role of Chongqing higher education in the contribution to local economic development

This paper studies and discusses the economic function of higher education,which is of great importance to making higher education play a role in coordinated development of economy and society.According to intrinsic economic growth theory,this paper uses Cobb-Douglas production function to construct labor-increasing function of education investment and makes estimation on contribution rate of Chongqing higher education to local economic development during 1990-2000 and 2000-2004 and analyzes the role of Chongqing higher education in local economic development and gives corresponding suggestions.
