Morphometric Study of Apis cerana in Changbai Mountain

Abstract

The morphological features of Apis cerana Fabr.were studied using morphometric methods.Samples of Apis cerana were collected from 17 colonies in 6 locations of the Changbai Mountain.38 standard morphometric characters recommended by RUTTNER et al.(1988) were measured.The data were statistically analyzed by computer.Test showed the honeybees in Changbai Mountain could be subdivided into 3 groups.Compared with the morphological data of Apis cerana of adjacent country as Japan and Korea,they belonged to the same group.Since there were some different ecological zones in Changbai Mountain region,the bees of Apis cerana own rich diversity in color and body size.
