Abstract
The morphological features of Apis cerana in the eastern margin of Pingwu region of Sichuan was studied using morphological methods.Samples of A.cerana were collected from 15 colonies in 5 locations in Pingwu county of Sichuan province.Thirty-eight standard morphometric characters were measured. The data of Pingwu with that of Jiuzhaigou, southern of Gansu and eatern of Chuanxi Plateau were analyzed by factor analysis, principal component analysis, cluster analysis and correlations analysis. The results showed that A.cerana of eastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were divided into two groups.Body size of A.cerana in this area was significantly correlated with latitude and altitude, while the characters of hair length, tomentum, tom dark stripe, pigment scutellum, pigment labrum were only correlated with altitude.
