Abstract

Lower part of hypocotyl of Cucumis Melon L.forms adventitious roots on normal situation because of the higher endogenous IAA level than that of upper part of hypocotyl resulted from polarty. This phenomenon is so-called polar rooting.Upper part can also be induced to form adventitious roots concomitanted with a significant increasing in the medium complememted with 2.0mg/L exogenous IAA.Thus, whether the lower and upper part of hypocotyl form adventitious roots depends on its relative endogenous IAA level.
