Abstract
Hypocotyl of Cucumis melon L.can be induced to occur adventitious root on 1/4 MS solid medium.Endogenous level of putrescine increases during root formation.D-Arg (synthetic inhibitor of putrescine) markly decreases the level of putrescine and root formation.When D-Arg and putrescine are added to the medium, the ratio of rooting and the length of root can be increased to the control level.These results indicate that putrescines have relation to adventitious, root formation in hypocotyl of Cucumis melon L.
