On Three Event of Policy Redressing in the Western Regions of Western Han Dynasty

Abstract

In Western Han Dynasty,three well-known uprisings erupted in the western regions.In the third year of Benshi,Chang Hui,without gaining permission from the emperor,launched an attack to Qiuci area.The Emperor Xuan didn't praise or penalize him.In the first year of Yuankang,Feng Fengshi commanded his military force to subdue the Shache area.Feng Fengshi was not awarded the title of vassal because of the scholarly resistance.In the third year of Jianzao,Chen Tang killed the Chanyu(a lord of a small tribe) in Zhizhi area.Because of the predominance of conservatives in the central government,Chan tang was degraded as a plain civilian in the end.These three figures made great achievements in the western regions,but received totally different rewards.By analyzing and comparing,we will present a more clear view about the policies in west regions of Western Han Dynasty.
