GEOGRAPHIC DIVISION AND DISTRIBUTION PATTERN OF LAND MAMMALS IN GUANGXI AUTONOMOUS REGION,CHINA

species of land mammals in Guangxi Autonomous Region, belonging to 9 orders and 27 families, have been recorded by the authors. According to the composition of the species and distributional characters on mammals of Guangxi, and also combining the local landform, Climate as well as vegetation etc., the dividing of zoogeographical regions in Guangxi may be divided into 7 infraregions (Ⅲ Order region).1 Mountain infraregion in Southwestern Guangxi Altogether 127 species of mammals are found in this area, occupying 79% of the total number of mammals of Guangxi. Among them, 109 species are considered to be Oriental and 12 species to be Palaearctic mammals, besides, the others to be widely spread mammals.2 Coastal table plain infraregion in Southern Guangxi There are 52 species of mammals in this area we surveyed, of which 41 species belong to Oriental mammals, 7 belong to Palaearctic and 3 belong to widely distributed mammals.3 Mound hills infraregion in Southwestern Guangxi 74 species of mammals are found to occur in the area, of which 63 species represent the Oriental, while 8 species and 3 represent the Palaearctic as well as widely spread mammals respectively.4 Mound mountain infraregion in the Middle and Eastern Guangxi Among the all species recorded in Guangxi, there are included 81 species of mammals from this area, of which 74 species and 5 are respectively considered as Oriental and Palaearctic animals, while remaining 2 as the widely distributed animals.5 Hillock table mountain valley infraregion in the Central Area of Guangxi Based on our investigations in this area, 96 species of mammals have been recorded heretofore . Among these mammals, 83 species belong to Oriental and 6 to Palaearctic, as well as 7 to widely distributed mammals.6 Karst plateau basin infraregion in Northwestern Guangxi Total of 100 species on mammals are found in the infraregion, of which 82 and 11 species represent respectively the Oriental and Palaearctic mammals; and the remaining 7 represent the widely spread mammals.7 Nanling mountain infraregion in Northeastern Guangxi There are 101 species of land mammals in this area. According to analysis of the characteristics of the mammalian fauna, of which 77 species are considered as the Oriental and 19 species as the Palaearctic mammals, and a few others as the widely distrubuted species.
