Complications and prevention of procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids

Abstract
[Objective] To evaluate and analyze the postoperative complications induced from the operative of the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH). [Methods] Analyzing the clinical data of 26 patients with severe hemorrhoids operated by procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids. [Results] Complications include: urinary retention in 8 cases (30.8%), hemorrhage in 6 cases (23.1%), postoperative pain of anal in 4 cases (15.4%), severe pain 1 case (3.9%). During 1 to 24 months′ follow-up, 1 case recrudesced and no case appeared encopresis or anal stenosis. [Conclusion] Complications after PPH mostly include hemorrhage, pain, infection and urinary retention, which can be prevented and decreased by active and effective treatment.
