Abstract

According to the failure characteristics of expansive soil embankment in engineering, the expansive force after soaking is considered, the bedded triangular model of the expansive force in expansive soil embankment is established, and then the load model of the embankment is set up.By use of the elastic-plastic finite element method, the stability of expansive soil embankment in soaking condition is simulated and analyzed by taking an actual project as example. The analysis indicate that when expansive force considered, the most dangerous slide face would pass through the slope feet and be approximate arc,the stability coefficient would be debased obviously. The expansive force after soaking would reduce the stability of the slope,so the protecting, waterproofing and draining measures for the slope surfaces of expansive soil embankment should be made good in engineering.
