Abstract
Isoprenoids are the largest and the most structurally varied groups of natural chemical compounds, which have many essential biological functions in plants and high economic value. There are two distinct pathways of isoprenoids biosynthesis pathways in plants, the classical mevalonate(MVA) pathway and the recently unveiled 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol-4-phosphate(MEP) pathway. It was summarized the recent genetic progress of the two pathways, including the key enzymes, genes, intermediates and crosstalk, etc.
