Abstract

Isoprenoids originally from medicinal plants are natural products of diverse bioactivities. Isopre-noids were synthesized in plants via the mevalonate (MVA) pathway and the 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol-4- phosphate (MEP) pathway whose regulation mechanisms are research hotspots in recent years. This article gives a summary of recent explorations on isoprenoid biosynthetic pathway and metabolic regulation of func-tional isoprenoids in medicinal plants.
