Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the heparin releasing rate of polyethyleneimine-heparin coated polyvinyl chloride(PVC) medical material.METHODS By using polyethyleneimine-heparin coating technique,PVC material of medical grade was coated with heparin. Then the concentration of coated heparin was calculated and heparin releasing rate was evaluated by toluidine blue spectrophotometry.RESULTS The heparin concentration on polyethyleneimine-heparin coated PVC surface was 400 to 700 μg/cm2.After soaked in saline for 700 hours, the heparin releasing rate of the polyethyleneimine-heparin coated PVC material was only 0.89%.CONCLUSION The polyethyleneimine-heparin coated PVC material has good heparin releasing stability and low heparin releasing rate,it can meet the requirement of cardiopulmonary bypass use in heart surgery.
