Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effects of embolization treatment with pingyangmycin and lipiodol emulsion on enormous hepatic cavernous hemangioma.Meth- ods The procedures of transcatheter intra-arterial embolization and sclerosis with pingyangmycin and lipiodol emulsion were performed in 21 patients with enormous hepatic cavernous heman- gioma, the diameters were 6~20.8 cm.The catheter was inserted into blood supply arteries, the pingyangmycin and lipiodol was transfused, and the end the blood supply arteries was embolized with gelfoma, the patients was reexamined after 3~6 months of operation. Results The blood supply arteries of 21 cases were successfully embolized for 1~3 times according to the size of tu- mors, the liquefaction iodized oil aggregated in blood sinusoid and the blood supply was blocked. There were no serious complicating diseases and liver function damages, the clinical symptoms were relieved and the tumor body was decreased. Conclusion The transcathetcr arterial in- jection of pingyangmycin and lipiodol emulsion to hepatic cavernous hemangioma is a safe and effective method and of choice in the treatment of enormous cavernous hemangioma of the liver.
