Abstract

Objective To investigate and evaluate the clinical value and therapeutic effect of Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion in treatment of cavernous hemangioma of liver. Methods Twelve patients with cavernous hemangioma of liver were treated with Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion(PLE)by transcatheter arterial embolization puncturing femoral artery with Seldinger's technology. The sizes of tumor were from 3.3cm×3.0cm to 12.0cm×13.0cm.The supplying artery of the tumors were embolized by gelfoam particles. Every patient should be re examined after the therapy. Results The iodized oil deposited well and all of the tumors shrank to different degrees after the embolic therapy. No serious complications happened. Conclusion The transcatheter arterial injection of Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion to treat cavernous hemangioma of liver is safe and effective with fewer complications, and should be the first line of therapy.
