Abstract

The traditional thin film transistor liquid crystal display can not emit light directly,so a backlight is necessarily in need.Among several light sources for LCD backlight,LED is the most competitive one.Based on analysing the performance of LED,a new LED for large area direct backlight for LCD is designed,which is simple and has a good performance.In order to test the new LED,a 26 inch backlight for LCD is designed.The simulation result indicates that the performance of the LED designed is good enough to meet the requirement of backlight about brightness uniformity and color balance
