The Terms of Trade of China's Agricultural Products

Aiming at terms of trade,the terms of trade index of China's agricultural products during 1993-2003 are calculated and the trend of terms of trade is analyzed.The following conclusions are drawn①There is deteriorating trend in price terms of trade of agricultural products,and minimum value of the index is 0.89;but income one not,and the index covers 0.84 to 1.30;②Price terms of trade index between China and U.S.A,between China and Argentina has always been deteriorating,but ameliorating between China and Brazil;③Among the main importing agricultural products,price terms of trade index of bean oil covers 0.84-5.87;palm 0.43-1.79;soja 0.82-1.15;and wheat 0.74-1.66.Income terms of trade index of the four products fluctuated drastically;④Among the main exporting products,both price and income terms of trade of corn and rice are deteriorating,especially shallot and garlic,the two index fell to 0.45 and 0.54 respectively.The terms of trade needs to be improved urgently.
