Abstract
Aim To explore the activity of cardiac autonomic nerves and evaluate its clinical significance and correlation with heart function in patients with chronic heart failure.Method The characteristics of heart rate variability(HRV) were analyzed of 32 healthy persons and 34 patients with chronic heart failure from different causes using 24 h Holter monitoring electrocardiogram. Results The results of 24 h Holter monitoring electrocardiogram showed that in patients with chronic heart failure, the 24 h standard deviation of normal number of intervals(SDNN) and the HRV index were significantly lower than that in healthy group. The low frequency(LF) and the high frequency(HF) of frequency domain indices in patients were also markedly reduced. Conclusions Both vagus nerves and sympathetic nerves which dominate heart were damaged in patients with chronic heart failure, the former damaged more serious. It suggests that timely correcting the activation of neurocrine hormone in vivo would benefit the inhibition of myocardium remodeling and improve the function of the heart in patients with heart failure.
