Conformal radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy for esophageal cancer

Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety of conformal radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy for esophageal cancer.A total of 45 cases of esophageal cancer patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.Treatment group were treated with conformal radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy,and the control group were treated using only conformal radiotherapy.After treatment the short-term effect and safety were evaluated.All patients completed the treatment.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 95.5%,significantly higher than that of the control group(73.9%),compared with significant difference(P0.05);Acute radiation esophagitis,tracheitis and myelosuppression were the main side effects of radiotherapy.The incidence rate of acute radiation esophagitis and tracheitis of the two groups were Ⅰ-Ⅱ grade and less symptoms.The myelosuppression of the two groups was more serious,primarily manifested as Ⅲ-Ⅳ grade,but the toxicity of the two groups compared was no significant difference(P0.05).The conformal radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy for esophageal cancer has a better efficacy,and adverse reactions can be tolerated.The therapy method is worthy to be popularized.
