Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2)and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2(TIMP-2),and to explore their correlation with metastasis and prognosis in non-small-cell lung carcinoma. Methods The expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in 60 cases of lung cancer tissues and 20 cases of paracancerous tissues of lung was examined by flow cytometry. Results The levels of MMP-2,TIMP-2 and MMP-2/TIMP-2 were significantly higher in lung cancer tissues than those in paracancerous normal lung cancer tissues(P0.05).The expression of MMP-2 and the ratio of MMP-2/TIMP-2 were significantly correlated with the differentiation,TNM stage, lymphatic metastasis and patients’survival time after operation(P0.05),however,the expression of TIMP-2 was not correlated with the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with lung cancer(P0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of MMP-2,the imbalance of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 are major reason for resulting in the cancer pathogenesis, which can be used as the reference indexes for the malignant degree of non-small-cell lung carcinoma and patients’prognosis.
