On Poetic Features of Language in Historical Novels by Ling Li:A Discussion of Language Problems in Recent Historical Novels

Abstract

Language used in historical novels can decide if they are successful ones and also their truthfulness.Ling Li pays more attention to the ‘historical or modern' form of language in her historical novels, appropriately controls the pace of narration, thus forming her narrative style of mildly restrained as well as implied emotional expressions.She has actually set a successful example for language use in recent historical novels by exploring the historical and cultural implications hidden in the language used, which helps develop the poetic features in her novels.
