The Clinical Effect of Septomixine on Chronic Periapical Periodontitis

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Septomixine as root canal disinfectant on chronic periapical periodontitis.Methods 139 patients with chronic periapical periodontitis(including 139 sick roots) were randomly classified into three groups,and root canals were prepared and pressurized washing using the hand ProTaper NiTi instruments with crown-down techinque.The patients in group I were administered with Septomixine,and the patients in groupⅡwere administered with calcium hydroxide and those in group Ⅲ were administered with formaldehyde and cresol(FC).After one week,the response of patients were evaluated.Results Compared with Group III,GroupⅠhad less postoperative pain,with shorter time of sinus closed.There were no obvious differences between groupⅠand groupⅡ in the time of sinus closed.Conclusions Septomixine can be used as a root canal disinfectant in treating refractory and chronic periapical periodontitis.
