Advances in biotechnology have generated new opportunities for coconut breeding and its genetic resource conservation and utilization.This paper deals with the theory and characteristics of molecular marker which are commonly used,and gives a summary description of the recent advance of the application of molecular marker in various aspects of coconut researches including germplasm resource researches,genetic linkage map construction,Quantitative Trait Loci,genetic diversity and marker-assisted selection.
