Abstract
Proton pump inhibitors ( PPIs) are commonly prescribed to treat acid-related diseases.Omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, and rabeprazole are very different in their pharmacokinetics properties ( e.g., bioavailability, metabolic pattern, interaction potential, genetic variability). Many researches reported so far that cytochrome P450 (CYP) could affect the pharmacokinetics of PPIs. Although there is considerable evidence to prove their clinical efficacy and safety, there are still a certain number of patients resistant to them. So the various PPIs should be used selectively in practice.
