Efficacy Observation of Metronidazole Combined with Clotrimazole in the Treatment of Recurrent Vaginitis

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the clinical efficacy of metronidazole combined with clotrimazole in the treatment of recurrent vaginitis. METHODS: 100 patients with recurrent vaginitis were randomly divided into control group and treatment group in our hospital from Jan. 2009 to Mar. 2011, and 50 cases were in each group. The control group was given miconazole while the treatment group received oral metronidazole and Clotrimazole effervescent tablets for vaginal use. Two groups were treated continuously for 14 days, and the clinical efficacy, clinical symptoms and signs improvement and the incidence of adverse drug reactions were compared between 2 groups. RESULTS: The clinical cure rate, effective rate and recurrence rate in treatment group were better than in control group for all types of recurrent vaginitis (P0.05); clinical symptoms and signs improvement in treatment group were also better than in control group (P0.05); there were no statistical significance in the difference of adverse drug reactions between 2 groups (P0.05). CONCLUSION: Oral metronidazole combined with clotrimazole effervescent tablets have good efficacy and few side effects.
