Abstract
Objective:To explore the correlation between serum levels of C-reactive protein(CRP) and procalcitonin(PCT) in pregnant women with term premature rupture of membrane(PROM) and subclinical infection.Methods:20 pregnant women with term PROM who received cesarean section in the hospital from November 2009 to May 2010 were selected as experimental group,20 normal term pregnant women who received cesarean section because of social factors in the hospital during the same period were selected as control group.Maternal blood samples(3 ml) were abstracted from all the study objects;after delivery of the placenta,fetal membrane tissues were obtained for histopathological examination.ELISA was used to detect the maternal serum levels of CRP and PCT in the two groups.Results:The maternal serum levels of CRP and PCT in experimental group were(4.57±1.71) mg/L and(59.787±18.781) pg/ml,respectively,which were significantly higher than those in control group [(3.17±1.04) mg/L and(38.630±16.119) pg/ml,respectively](P0.05);in experimental group,there was no correlation between serum CRP level and serum PCT level(P0.05).The pregnant women in the two groups received pathological examination of fetal membrane,19 pregnant women were found with chorioamnionitis,including 14 pregnant women in experimental group and 5 pregnant women in control group.The sensitivity and specificity of serum CRP in diagnosis of chorioamnionitis were 63.16% and 52.38%,respectively;the sensitivity and specificity of serum PCT in diagnosis of chorioamnionitis were 73.68% and 61.90%,respectively.Conclusion:Infection is related to PROM closely;compared with CRP,PCT is a better indicator to diagnose PROM because of subclinical infection.
