Abstract

In order to construct a large container deep water port,a land of port area shall be firstly formed in the sea area with strong tidal current and high sediment content by blocking branch channels and depending on topography of offshore islands and reefs.One of key technologies in the project is how to determine the layout of Yangshan Deep Water Port.In this paper,mainly considering the trumpet topographic characteristics formed by two island chains of Big Yangshan(in the south)and Small Yangshan(in the north),that is the east entrance is narrow(about 1 000 m in width)and water depth(averagely about 50 m),the west entrance is wide(about 7 600 m in width)and water depth(averagely about 11 m),and complicated hydrologic and sediment conditions in sea area etc.and recommending the proposal to execute single channel layout after demonstration.The proposal is useful for maintaining of water depth in port area,smooth of flow pattern,safe navigation of ships and reduction of mud intensity.Site monitoring indicates the results about flow pattern and mud intensity in water area of port are basically consistent with the conclusion of study.
