Abstract

The 12-year-old 2nd-generation seed orchard open-pollinated progeny test of Chinese fir were investigated and analysed at Yangkou National Forest Farm of Fujian. The results showed that there were very significant differences among families in tree height,DBH and stem volume.Taking the wood volume characters as the main index, together with the tree height and DBH,30 superior families with good performance in growth were selected, their average value of tree height,DBH and stem volume were 12.61 m,16.76 cm and 0.16000 m3 respectively, their genetic gain were 2.95%,5.55%and 14.24% respectively, and their realized genetic gain were up to 31.78%.These superior families were very suitable to be deployed in the area of Shunchang,Fujian Province.
