Lumbar transection of Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty for the treatment of ureteropelvic junction obstruction

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical features of ureteropelvic junction obstruction(UPJO) and the efficacy of lumbar transection of Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty for the treatment of UPJO.Methods Clinical data of 74 cases of UPJO treated in our hospital during 2001 and 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.Pre-operation B-ultrasound examination and imaging detected 8 cases of mild hydronephrosis,46 moderate hydronephrosis and 20 severe hydronephrosis.All 74 patients underwent minimally invasive lumbar transection of Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty,of whom 56 had ureteropelvic junction obstruction,5 had ureteropelvic high connectivity,6 had aberrant vascular compression,and 7 had fiber cord compression.Results 70 patients were followed up for 6 months to 6 years and received B-ultrasound and IVP examination.Of them 65 patients were cured,3 patients' condition remained the same,and 2 worsened.Conclusions Lumbar transection of Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty for UPJO is safe and effective,which can be widespread in clinical practice.
