Abstract

Based on cognitive linguistic theories, this paper analyzes the cognitive mechanism of listening comprehension. It is believed that the information-processing mode in the process of listening comprehension is the interaction of top-down processing and bottom-up processing and background knowledge plays a very important role in listening comprehension. This paper concludes with the application of cognitive theory in listening comprehension courses. Cognitive linguistics studies the relationship between language and cognition, which provides us with a better understanding of listening comprehension process, thus greatly benefiting listening comprehension courses.
