Efficacy of Triclabendazole against Fasciola hepatica in Naturally Infected Goats

The efficacy of triclabendazole made in China was tested againstFasciola hepatica in naturally infected goats and compared with that of niclofolan. At 10 mg/kg, triclabendazole was 100% effective in eliminating both immature and adult flukes. At a lower dose of 5 mg/kg, triclabendazole was 92.9% and 99.3% efficient against immature and adult flukes respectively. Niclofolan at 5 mg/kg showed 100% efficiency against adult fluks, but its effect on immature flukes was 74.3%. Clinical toxic reactions were not observed in the treat goats. Triclabendazole was shown here to be safe and effective, and 10 mg/kg body weight at single oral does rate was recommended.
