Abstract
Based on a survey of grain production of farm households in Shanghai suburbs,an empirical analysis of willingness for farmers to grow grain was made.It was found that the sown area of grain decreased gradually, the willingness for farmers to grow grain permitted no optimism, and such variables as farmer's sex and age, householder's occupation and agricultural working time, agricultural material price, expected return and policies had significant effects on the willingness. In order to ensure grain supply security and improve the willingness for farmers to grow grain,it was suggested that some measures be taken in terms of stabilizing agricultural material prices, vigorously training agricultural talents and adjusting the structure, improving operational mechanism of cooperatives specialized in grain production, and energetically publicizing the grain subsidy policy.
