Abstract

A method for the simultaneous determination of Ag,Al,As,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu,Mn,Ni,Pb,Sb,Se,Zn and Hg in vegetables by ICP-MS with microwave digestion was studied. The dried vegetable sample was digested in an enclosed, high pressure microwave vessel-MARS-X system and the elements were determined by ICP-MS under optimum conditions. The linear range of the calibration curve was 0-200.0 μg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.999. The detection limits were in the range of 0.46-224.9 ng/L.Recoveries of the elements from the spiked vegetable sample were in the range of 81%-118%,and the RSD was less than 4.44%.The method was evaluated by analyzing the National Tomato Leaf Standard(GSBZ 51001-94).The results obtained agreed quite well with the certified values.
