Abstract

Fifty-four cases of gastric cancer treated by total gastrectomy were analysed. Among them, 44cases were males and ufemales. The rate of total gastrectomy is 13.8% . Among all gastric cancer operation performed in the same period. Total five-year .survival rate was 20.3%, five year survival among patients after radical resection was 34.8%. Postoperative complication rate was 12 .9%. operation mortality was 3.7% . The proper use of the total gastrectomy in the treatment of gastric cancer was-discussed, and the access, the incision of spleen and pancreas body and tail, as well as the reconstruction of digestive tract were evaluated in this paper.
