Abstract

Objective To explore more reasonable surgical treatment for proximal gastric cancer. Methods We compared and analyzed postoperative complications or death rate according to the 108 upper surgery cases after the treatment of 1,3 and 5 years. Results The survival rate was the same as in the first year, but postoperative complications and mortality were obviously different after the treatment of 3 or 5 years. Conclusion Total gastrectomy is more suitable than subtotal gastrectomy for developmental period of proximal gastric cancer.
