Study of emulsification of oxidized paraffin wax

Abstract

Adopting Co/SBA - 15 as catalyst,52# paraffin wax as raw material,oxidized paraffin wax was prepared.The influences of the emulsification temperature,emulsification time,emulsifier dosage and other factors on the effect of the emulsification were investigated.The results showed that the blended nonionic emulsifier of HLB value of 9.3 displays good performance.The appropriate emulsification conditions are as follows:dosage of emulsifier 7.3%(mass fraction of total emulsified mixture),emulsification time 55 min, emulsification temperature 75℃,water to be emulsified with mass fraction of total emulsified mixture 69.96%.The emulsion has advantages of good stability,long shelf life,non - toxic and tasteless,and good color.From the comparison of the emulsion performance of the raw material wax with the wax after oxidation treatment,it can be seen that the emulsion performance of oxidized paraffin wax was improved considerably and the dosage of emulsifier is reduced.
