PATHOGEN ANALYSIS OF VULVOVAGINAL CANDIDIASIS AND EFFICACY OF FLUCONAZOLE IN THE TREATMENT OF INITIAL VULVOVAGINAL INFECTION

Abstract

ObjectiveTo analyze the pathogen of vulvovaginal candidiasis and to observe the efficacy of fluconazole in the treatment of initial vulvovaginal candidiasis infection.MethodsOne hundred and fifty patients who were found for the first time with vulvovaginal candidiasis were selected in this study.A microscopic examination and culture of the vaginal discharge were performed to analyze the yeast species.Drug sensitivity tests of pathogens to 5FC,AMB,NYS,MIC,ECO,and KET were done in vitro according to NCCLS's method.All subjects were treated with single dose of Fluconazole(150 mg).The symptoms and side effects were recorded.The culture of the vaginal discharge was repeated one week after the treatment.ResultsCandida albicans, C.tropicalis and C.glabrata were found in 96%,2% and 2% of te samples,respectively.The sensitivity rates of the microorganisms in vitro to 5FC,AMB,NYS,MIC,ECO,and KET were 100% and the two cases with C.glabrata was not sensitive to Fluconazole.The mycologic cure rate and general efficacy were 91.33% and 99.33% respectively at one week after taking 150 mg of Fluconazole.ConclusionCandida albicans are found in 96% of the patients who suffered from vulvovaginal candidiasis for the first time.Most microorganisms are sensitive to the common anti-candias drugs in vitro.The protocol of single dose of 150 mg of Fluconazole 150 mg is safe and effective.
