Abstract

Objective To search the technique to correct the secondary nasal deformity ulteriorly. Methods The flat spilth tissue on the cleft side alar,is formed as a nasal alar flap, and used to drive up or reconstruct the nostril base (sill), block up outboard foot of the cleft alar. The cleft side alar cartilage lateral foot, the vault and the upper inboard foot is fully disassociated. After the size and shape of the cleft nostril is adjusted to the normal side symmetrically,it is replaced and fixed into the proper place.Sculptured rib cartilage is used to raise the bridge of the nose, the cleft side outboard foot, and the sill. Results 18 patients were received this operation, their nasal alar, nostril, sill, and the outboard foot et al,on the two sides are symmetry, and the result is good. Conclusion The improved cleft side alar flap and alar cartilage sling procedure is effective to correct secondary cleft lip nasal deformity.
