A Study on the Role of Overseas Chinese in Constructing China's Soft Power

The emergence of soft power resulted from the dispersion of power from state to society. The diasporas and immigrants who are the resources of soft power formed the non- zero- sum game between the original motherland and their residence country. With the ethnic characteristics,ethnic habits,traditional culture and special civilization as constants and ideology,values and political system as variables,overseas is a basic resource to construct China's soft power. The exploration and practice of Chinese valuesis important in constructing China's soft power while the social practices of overseas is of significance in breedingChinese values. The relationship between overseas and China should be re- examined,the traditional cognition of jussanguinis should be changed to overseas and the institutions designed should support overseas societies and other social powers.
