Abstract

A strain (GP6) with stronger phenol-degrading ability was obtained through acclimation, cultivation and screening with the activated sludge of Northern Shenyang wastewater treatment plant as bacteria source. It is a coccus, gramnegative and can use phenol as carbon source and energy source. The optimum conditions for the degradation of penol were:temperature 30 ℃,pH 7.0 and shaking frequency 150 r/min ,fine oxygen. The influence of nitrogen source and carbon source on phenol decomposition was also studied.
