Abstract
This study administered both cross-sectional and longitudinal questionnaire surveys to 660 university students. Results of the study indicates the following: Both social support and personality have a significant effect on concurrent and two-year-after coping respectively. Those having relatively higher level of social support used action-planning,support-seeking,actively-restraining ways of coping significantly more and giving-up significantly less than those having lower level of social support.Comparing both concurrent and two-year-after coping between the two personality groups indicates that, open-assertive group used action-planning,support-seeking ways of coping significantly more and giving-up significantly less than reserved-gentle group.Personality exerts a significantly longer influence than social support on coping style.
