Acupuncturing Taixi Point and Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Objective:Application of functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) to observe the reaction of the needle Taixi point for cerebral activation zone.Methods:Eight cases of healthy young volunteers,acupuncture subjects the right side Taixi point in fMRI using resting stage with acupuncture the stage alternately acquisition image obtained data through SPM module of MATLAB 6.1 software and REST software analysis,observe the area of the brain activation in two points.Results:Eight subjects Taixi point activated the right superior temporal gyrus(BA22),middle temporal gyrus(BA19,BA30,BA39),inferior temporal gyrus(BA38),precuneus(BA7),followed by the left and right parietal medial frontal gyrus(BA2,BA4),post-central gyrus(BA40),the left frontal lobe,the inferior frontal gyrus(BA47).Conclusion:Brain activation areas by Taixi point by are mainly located in the right temporal upper,middle and lower back and precuneus,which are mainly responsible for auditory language and cognitive function,and traditional Chinese medicine theories:Kidney opens into the ear,Kidney Meridian relys on the tongue,Kidney main bone marrow,through the brainare consistent with it.
