Abstract

Objective:To investigate the changes of cerebral regions after Frontal-three-needle penetration.Methods: 6 healthy volunteers were scanned before and after Frontal-three-needle penetration by Bold-fMRI.In order to observe the activated cerebral regions,cerebral images were sampled and analyzed by SPM software.Results: High activations regional brain after Frontal-three-needle penetration including,left brain: superior frontal gyrus(BA8/10),middle frontal gyrus (BA9/46),inferior frontal gyrus(BA47),superior temporal gyrue(BA38),middle temporal gyrue(BA39),limbic lobe,cuneus(BA20),cerebellum;right brain:precentral gyrus(BA6),inferior temporal gyrue(BA20),caudate nucleus,occipital lobe(BA18/19),inferior parietal lobule(BA40),brainstem.Decline activations regional brain including:left brain:lenticula,superior parietal lobule(BA7),superior temporal gyrue(BA39),superior temporal gyrue(BA20),middle frontal gyrus(BA8);right brain: limbic lobe(BA33).Conclusion:Some activated cerebral regions by Frontal-three-needle penetration may be involved in the therapeutic effect of mood disorder diseases.fMRI can demonstrate clearly the functional changes of brain caused by acupuncture and serve as an valid tool for studying the mechanism and effects of acupuncture.
