Abstract

In this paper the changes of cultivated land use in Zhejiang province during recent 25 years were studied based on GIS technology by using the data of Zhejiang statistical yearbook.Applying principal components analytical method, the spatial diversity of cultivated land changes and the driving forces of cultivated land changes were analyzed quantitatively. The result shows that the quantity of cultivated land use in Zhejiang province has being decreasing from reformation and opening, and its change is different in spatial distribution. The rapid economic development is the dominant macro-driving factor for the decrease of cultivated land area. The rapid decreasing of cultivated land area is coincided in time with the increasing of economic development. And the differences in spatial distribution of the changes is roughly corresponding with the differences of speed and level of economic development among the different regions.
