Abstract
A safe water purification sorbent based on chitosan was developed. The physical and chemical characteristics and the adsorbability removing heavy metal ions of the sorbent were studied. The results showed that single layer adsorption occurred during the adsorption process, the sorbent could adsorb 90.9% of Cd2+,97.4% of Cu2+ and 95.9% of Zn2+ when the dosage of the sorbent was 4g/L and the pH was 6.Combined with the previous research data, the absorbent has a favorable adsorbing effect to sorb organic compounds and heavy metals. The sorbent is a material with good exploitation future in water treatment.
