Abstract
Objective To study the effects of waltonitone that inducing human squamous cell lung carcinoma NCI-H520 cells apoptosis. Methods The MTT assay was used to measure NCI-H520 cell proliferation.Apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry analysis. The changes of the nucleus in the NCI-H520 cells after waltonitone-treated were investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Results The cells were treated with waltonitone(10,20,30,40 μmol/L)for 24 h,the growth of NCI-H520 cells was suppressed in a dose-dependent manner.Flow cytometric analysis showed that waltonitone induced NCI-H520 cells apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner.Chromosome condensation was observed by transmission electron microscopy in treated cells, the untreated cells remained normal. Conclusion Waltonitone could inhibit the growth of NCI-H520 cells and induce cell apoptosis.
