Clinical effects of adjustable sutures for scleral flap in trabeculectomy

Objective: To analyze clinical effects of adjustable sutures for scleral flap in trabeculectomy.Methods: Seventy-three glaucoma patients(92 eyes) were randomly divided into group A(experiment) and B(control).In group A,forty-six eyes underwent trabeculectomy with adjustable sutures for sclera flap and the same amount of eyes in group B without the sutures.After trabeculectomy,vision acuity,filtration blebs,cornea,anterior chamber,intraocular pressure,and fundus of the subjects were observed.Results: Percentage of shallow anterior chamber was 6.52% and 32.61% in group A and B,respectively(χ2=9.94,P=0.002).Efficiency ratio of the operation was 95.65% and 32.61% after 0.5～2 years follow-up in group A and B,respectively(χ2=9.95,P=0.002).Conclusion: The percentage of shallow anterior chamber will be decreased and efficiency ratio of trabeculectomy will be increased by adjustable sutures for sclera flap.
