Status of Food Poisoning in Taian City during 1991—2008

[Objective]To understand the cause and features of food poisoning in Taian City so as to provide evidence for developing preventive measures.[Methods]Data from Taian food poisoning report and investigation report during 1991—2008 were comprehensively analyzed.[Results]A total of 178 cases of food poisoning were reported,1926 poisoning cases,1 death case,the poisoning mortality was 0.52‰;the major were bacterial and chemical poisoning,occupied 53.93% and 41.57% of total poisoning cases.The peak of poisoning appeared in most food poisoning occurred in collective canteens,occupied 55.06%;garden stuff and cooked food caused most food poisoning cases,occupied 35.39% and 31.46%.[Conclusion] In Taian City,most food poisoning cases are caused by bacterium and chemical substances in collective canteens.The key measures for food poisoning control are supervision strengthening and food hygiene knowledge training.
