Abstract

SQL Server 2005,which is the latest database system product of Microsoft, provides strong support for XML.In this paper,we study the underlying mechanism of access methods for XML in SQL Server 2005.By its unique coding schemes ORDPATH and primary XML index together with other secondary indexes,SQL Server 2005 is able to access XML data efficiently, guarantees the efficiency of XML query and integrates XML data and relational data seamlessly.
